I am excited to share that I will be running this exciting new course at Pretty Neat Gallery at Brighton Marina. We had planned to start in June but have postponed until September now to allow more time to advertise.
Join us for this four-week course (spread over 8 weeks with bi-weekly sessions), where you’ll embark on a creative journey to explore your matrescence — the transformative process of becoming a mother. Whether you’re a first-time parent or welcoming your second, third, or beyond, this course is designed for you to reflect on and express your evolving identity as a parent. We meet on the 9th and 23rd of September and 7th and 21st of October.
Each session offers a different theme, focusing on aspects of pregnancy, birth, postpartum experiences, and feeding. We’ll begin each class with journaling and sketching, followed by an introduction to lino printing. Although the course follows a weekly theme, you are welcome to bring your own ideas to explore during the sessions.
Our classes are a collaborative and supportive space where you can connect with others in a creative, relaxing environment. Babies are welcome, as long as they are in slings or buggies. Since this course takes place in a gallery studio space, it is not suitable for those lovely wanderers or crawlers, so we ask that babies remain in their slings or buggies for safety.
This course is about creating time for yourself — a creative escape that nurtures both your artistic expression and your sense of community. We are here to support you, but you will lead the way, allowing your experiences to guide the creative process.
The gallery will create a Baby Changing station and provide a changing mat to make your life a little easier for the sessions.
